18-year-old pleads guilty in Raleigh slaying

An 18-year-old man accepted a plea deal Thursday sentencing him to up to nearly 18 years in prison for an August 2009 shooting that killed one person.

Broderick Sherrod Rowland, who was injured in the shooting, pleaded guilty in the death of Curtis Edward Dow, 23, on Angelus Drive. Maurice Muntez Griffis, 25, was also injured.

Rowland pleaded guilty to charges of second-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. He was sentenced to between 170 months and 213 months in prison.

Anthony Edward Gross-Pruitt, 21, also faces charges of murder, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in the case.
