A teenage Cook Out employee was charged Friday with attempted murder after a 19-year-old was shot.

Police responded to a fight and shooting at the Cook Out at 1020 N. Wesleyan Blvd. around 12:05 a.m.

Officers with the Rocky Mount Police Department charged a 16-year-old girl with attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with the intent to kill after a fight and shooting outside the restaurant.

The teen, who was not named, was being held at a juvenile facility.

Tahagi Brown, 19, was transported to ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville with critical injuries.

According to police, the two didn't know each other, but investigators learned the shooter was a member of a gang. The shooter left the scene but was located at a home nearby, police said.

On Friday, WRAL News reached out to Cook Out to ask how long the suspect worked there, if she’s been terminated and if they have surveillance footage. WRAL News did not hear back from the business.
