1-year-old baby girl shot in New Bern dies from her injuries

A 1-year-old baby girl shot Tuesday in New Bern has died from her injuries.

At 9:51 p.m., officers responded to a shooting in the 1000 block of Lagrange Street.

Officers found Nathan Sheptock, 22, and a 1-year-old girl, Nalaoni Sheptock, with gunshot wounds.

Both victims were transported to CarolinaEast Medical Center. Nathan Sheptock was treated and released, but Nalaoni was transferred to ECU Health Medical Center, where she died from her injuries.

A homicide investigation is underway.

The investigation is ongoing.
