Violent weekend in Fayetteville: 6 people shot at 3 different locations, including 12-year-old

Multiple shootings leave 5 injured, 1 dead in Fayetteville this weekend

It's been a violent weekend in Fayetteville – with a total of six people shot at three different locations.

The three shootings left one person dead, multiple injuries and a 12-year-old in the hospital. This is the second weekend in a row the the city has had multiple shootings.

Fayetteville Police Chief Kemberle Braden provided a statement to WRAL News regarding the shootings, the second and third within 24 hours in the city.

"To the citizens of Fayetteville, within the past 24 hours our city has had 3 major shooting incidences, a total of 6 victim’s and one is deceased. This is the second weekend in a row that our city has had multiple shootings due to the senseless cycle of violence. The adult victims of all shootings in the past 24 hours were known to the police. They have criminal histories that include charges for aggravated assault, robberies and an array of narcotic violations. These incidents were avoidable. To solve these crimes it will take the cooperation of the victim’s, their families and the community at large. This is not just a police department problem, this is our community, this our problem and we must cooperate with one another and work together to prevent these senseless acts that are plaguing our city. If you see something, say something."

Man, woman and child shot while driving vehicle

During one of the shootings, officers noticed a car driving erratically on Seventy-First School Road.

When the car finally stopped at the 6400 block of Cliffdale Road, they found a man, woman and 12-year-old suffering from gunshot wounds.

Multiple bullet holes could be seen in the windows of the car. Five bullet holes were in the driver's window, and one was in the back.

Police canvassed the area and located the crime scene along the the 1100 block of Seventy-First School Road.

The victims were taken to Cape Fear Valley Hospital, where they are listed as stable.

Shooting leaves 1 injured, 1 dead

Just miles away from that scene, police investigated another shooting on Bonanza Drive, which ended with one person injured and a man, identified as Ernest Bullock, 24, dead.

Police said a preliminary investigation revealed a disturbance along the 6000 block of Morganton Road, where shots were fired into a vehicle. A white vehicle on the scene had a shattered driver's side window.

The two men ran from the vehicle and into a field on Bonanza Drive.

Woman shot in residential area

Fayetteville PIO Alpha Caldwell confirmed the third shooting happened at 200 Channing Drive in a residential area.

One woman was shot, and her injuries were described as non-life-threatening.

All adult victims have criminal histories

Braden said all adult victims had criminal histories, including aggravated assault, robberies and narcotic violations.

When asked if the shootings were gang-related, Braden said it was too soon to say. Currently, no one is in custody for the shootings.
