Man dead, wife injured after man charged with DWI collides with their car

A man is dead and his wife injured after their car was hit by a driver charged with driving while impaired early Sunday morning.

Antonio Carter, 46, was driving a 2014 Mercedes Benz on Capital Boulevard around 2:30 a.m. when he crashed into rear of another car.

The car he struck was a 2014 Ford Focus, carrying 76-year-old Pamela O’Brien, who was driving, and her husband Ralph O’Brien.

Ralph O'Brien, 76, was in the passenger seat.

The collision caused O’Brien’s vehicle to exit the roadway to the right and hit a tree.

Carter’s vehicle continued northbound until coming to rest in the wood line to the right of the road.

Ralph O’Brien was transported to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Pamela O’Brien and Carter were also transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Carter was arrested and charged with Driving while Impaired, Misdemeanor Death by Vehicle, and Failure to Reduce Speed.
