Jeff Hogan: Happy to be home and in good hands at Duke

WRAL News anchor Jeff Hogan is back in the Triangle and making progress after an injury over the weekend at Wrightsville Beach.

Hogan has been transferred to Duke University Hospital, where doctors are evaluating him and will be working on a treatment and recovery plan.

Hogan and fellow WRAL News anchor Brad Johansen were enjoying Wrightsville Beach with their families Saturday when Hogan, body-surfing with his daughters, hit a sand bar and had to be rescued.

Hogan never lost consciousness, Johansen said.

"He said, 'I saw stars. I knew I banged really bad, but I was aware of what was going on around me,'" Johansen said.

Still, Hogan could not move and had to be pulled from the surf.

He spent a few days in a Wilmington-area hospital before his return to the Triangle. He'll be off the air while he works on his recovery.
