A round of rough weather moving through the Triangle could bring heavy downpours, lightning and strong winds through the evening and into the overnight.

Several central North Carolina counties are under a flood watch issued by the National Weather Service, including Camden, Dare, Pasquotank and Pender, while Moore was under a flood advisory until 7 p.m. For a list of active National Weather Service alerts: Weather Alerts

WRAL meteorologist Aimee Wilmoth said 1-3 inches of rain has fallen in northwest Moore County from the system, which is moving to the north and east at about 20 miles per hour.

"We have some heavy showers and thunderstorms rolling through the area," she said, adding that heavier rainfall has been reported in areas south of the Triangle, including Moore and Chatham counties.

Fans planning on attending the evening's Durham Bulls game could see some wet weather.

If you're headed to the game, make sure you take a poncho with you," she said.

The benefit of the rain is cooler air.

Wilmoth said the temperatures to the west ranged in the low-to-mid-70s, while Raleigh and points eastward were reporting temperatures in the 80s during the early evening.

7-Day Forecast

Low temperatures were expected to dip to the upper 60s and low 70s.
