RALEIGH, N.C. — Another round of severe weather has come and gone from central North Carolina.

On Friday morning, a slow-moving band of showers and storms moved east through our area. The storms included heavy rain, lightning and some loud thunder due to a temperature inversion. Several WRAL viewers in the Sandhills region reported seeing hail.

The severe weather brought power outages to areas around the Triangle, including Orange County. According to Chapel Hill Police, power went out on MLK Blvd. Friday afternoon, including traffic lights. Approximately 4,000 people in Orange County were without power as of 4 p.m.

"Things quieted down by sunset and made for a nicer Friday night.," WRAL meteorologist Kat Campbell said. "It is a cool night with low temperatures in the 40s so jackets are needed."

Campbell says Saturday morning will start off a little on the unpleasant side, but that will change.

"Tomorrow morning will start out partly cloudy and cool." she said. "A band of showers moving through Kentucky and Ohio will approach by daybreak with just a small 20% chance of a sprinkle in the morning from that system. The rest of the day looks pleasant and breezy with highs near 70.

Highs will be in the 70s on Saturday and will increase to the 80s on Sunday.

"A warm front passes early Sunday and the southwest wind behind the front will help ramp up temperatures again," said Campbell.

But, there is a chance for rain and storms overnight Sunday.
