'Staying at home is not easy:' Downtown Fayetteville businesses look to the future with viral video
The Cool Spring Downtown District commissioned a short video to help residents stay strong throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, reminding them about the creativity and resilience of downtown Fayetteville.

They commissioned this 45 second video to help residents weather the COVID-19 pandemic--and remind neighbors about the powerful, diverse and resilient culture that makes Fayetteville strong.
That same culture has helped Fayetteville win the All-America City Award from the National Civil League three times in the past.
Bianca Shoneman, Cool Spring Downtown District President and CEO, said, "So really it's an uplifting stroll down memory lane to look at what's great about Fayetteville, North Carolina. That this is a resilient city and it's going to get through this."
Shoneman said the renovation of the Prince Charles Hotel, Serga Stadium and the Fayetteville Woodpeckers had the downtown district booming.
Then COVID-19 shut everything down.
Downtown Fayetteville is the center of events, government and small businesses. "It's the authentic league of our community," she said.
"Now, no one knows what the new normal will look like once the stay-at-home order is lifted," she said.
She believes, no matter how things turn out, Fayetteville's future will be strong.
Fayetteville Mayor Mitch Colvin said the city's 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew has been extended until May 8 to coincide with the Governor's stay-at-home order.
