Catherine Truitt, the state's newly elected superintendent, is expected to speak at the state board of education meeting on Thursday morning at 9 a.m.
Truitt will replace Mark Johnson, who did not seek re-election, and had a combative relationship with the board.
The group is wrapping up a two-day meeting on Thursday.
The board plans to discuss federal coronavirus relief and budget and legislative requests.
