There's still time to sign up for the North Carolina Parent Teacher Association's parent education conference this weekend.

The two-day event at the Hilton North Raleigh will provide perspectives on creativity in the classroom; ideas and resources for healthy school environments; the complexity of school funding; and upcoming changes to the state's standard course of study.

N.C. Symphony Resident Conductor William Henry Curry will be the guest speaker at an awards ceremony. Other speakers will include Dr. Helen A. Soule, director of state partnerships for Partnerships for 21st Century Skills; Keith Fishburne, president and CEO of Special Olympics NC; and Vito Borrello, a member of the board of directors for the National PTA.

Hundreds of parents, educators and students from across the state are expected to attend the annual conference.
