RALEIGH, N.C. — The North Carolina Education Lottery will add afternoon drawings of its Carolina Pick 4 game and Sunday afternoon drawings to its Carolina Pick 3 game, officials said Friday.

The 3 p.m. drawings will begin this Sunday.

Carolina Pick 4 drawings have been held only at night, and officials said the seven weekly afternoon drawings will give players more chances to win the game’s top prize of $5,000.

The Carolina Pick 3 game has had Monday through Saturday afternoon drawings in addition to its nightly drawings, and officials added a seventh afternoon drawing. The top prize for that game is $500.

"Players have been asking for the afternoon Pick 4 drawing, so we are glad we can respond and give them additional chances to play a favorite game,” Alice Garland, lottery executive director, said in a statement. “We believe these additions will not only be popular with players but will help us raise additional money for the education programs we serve in the state.”

All afternoon drawings are carried live on WRAL.com, and nightly drawings are live both online and on WRAL-TV.
