GREENVILLE, N.C. — State and local officials launched Operation Firecracker, a Booze It & Lose It Fourth of July DWI prevention enforcement campaign, on Thursday, June 24.

Nearly every law enforcement agency in the state participates in the program. The state started its Booze It & Lose It program 26 years ago.

The campaign launched at a special event to honor medical personnel, first responders and law enforcement officers in Greenville on Thursday morning.

Agencies will be ramping up patrols on the roadways to look for drunk drivers through the holiday weekend. July 4 falls on a Sunday this year.
