RALEIGH, N.C. — Ticket prices to the North Carolina State Fair could increase by $1 this year.
Fair officials will make the request to the state Board of Agriculture during a conference call meeting Thursday afternoon. If the board approves the proposal, prices would increase to $7 for adult tickets purchased in advance and $9 at the gate. Tickets for children ages 6 to 12 would go to $4, with a $1 discount for advance purchase.

The board could give tentative approval Thursday, which would allow the state fair to proceed with the change pending final approval.

According to the board, fair admission last increased in 2010.

The conference call meeting is open to the public. It will be held at 3:30 p.m. in the Hall of Fame Room at the Agriculture Building, 2 W. Edenton St., Raleigh.
