CLAYTON, N.C. — After several hours, a standoff in Clayton ended peacefully with a man in custody Saturday night.

Johnston County Sheriff Steve Bizzell told WRAL's Aaron Thomas the incident started off as a domestic dispute at a home near Guy Road and Winston Road. A man, who was not identified, was drinking, fired his gun inside the home and ran his family members out.

Deputies were able to convince the man to come out of the home after 10 p.m. He was taken into custody for medical evaluation.

Guy Road was closed to traffic and there were a number of law enforcement and vehicles at the scene at the time. Bizzell said there was no threat to the community.
