St. Louis police organizations seek donations for officers
The St. Louis Police Officers Association and the St. Louis Police Wives Association are seeking donations in support of officers responding to the civil disobedience in the city. On Monday a steady stream of donors dropped off drinks, food and cash.

The organizations are asking for donations of sports drinks, soda, water, non-perishable food items hygiene items
"The support from the community once again has been overwhelming and we cannot do what we do without the support from the community so we are very grateful," said Barb O'Connor, whose husband is an officer.
Jeff Roorda, the business manager with the St. Louis Police Officers Association, said that checks can be made out to the Shield of Hope, a Fraternal Order of Police charity. All money donations are tax deductible.
The donations can be dropped off at the St. Louis Police Officers Association Hall at 3710 Hampton from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday.
O'Connor said the support of the community has boosted the morale of officers who are working 12-hour shifts under stressful conditions.
"It's the unknown that's the difficult part. You can train and you can mentally prepare for many many things. But until you're faced with what you're faced with that day you don't know what's going to happen," said O'Connor.
