WILSON, N.C. — A Swiss company that makes plastic and foil tubes for the cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries will make Wilson the site of its North American headquarters and first U.S. manufacturing plant, officials said Monday.

Neopac US Inc. plans to invest $30.8 million in the operation at Wilson Corporate Park and create 44 jobs.

"For the last two years, we’ve done a detailed evaluation for a suitable site location in the U.S., and we are pleased to locate our new U.S. headquarters in Wilson, a community that matches perfectly with our requirements for qualified people, supportive government, a high-quality of life and proximity to our customers," Mark Aegler, chief executive of parent company Hoffmann Neopac AG, said in a statement.

Neopac's plant will include a clean room and a high-speed tube line, with room for expansion to up to four high-speed production lines.

State officials approved a grant of $300,000 from the One North Carolina Fund for Neopac. The fund provides financial assistance to local governments to help attract economic investment, and awards are contingent on being matched by local money. Companies receive no money upfront and must meet job and investment targets to qualify for payment.
