Baseball is back at Five County Stadium and we now know the name of the team who will be taking the field there this spring.
On Tuesday, Zebulon's new Coastal Plain League baseball team unveiled its official name - Devil Dogz. The name is a nod to the Devil Dog Dungarees, which have been produced in Zebulon for decades and honor the town's roots in textile manufacturing.

The name was selected from a list of fan-submitted options that included the Iron Horses, Thunder Roos, Croc Hunters and Bushrangers.
The team has a partnership with Ozball Australia, meaning that Zebulon’s roster will exclusively feature college players from Australia.
The roster, including players and coaching staff, has not been announced yet.
Season tickets are on sale now for the team's first season. All tickets will include access to an All-You-Can-Eat menu featuring hot dogs, hamburgers, grilled chicken sandwiches, soda, chips and a mystery Australian food item. Opening night is May 22.
Single game tickets will go on sale in April.
Five County Stadium was previously home to the Carolina Mudcats. The team owners announced in 2023 that after more than 30 years they would move to a new $69 million stadium in Wilson near Whirligig Park. The team will begin play this spring as the Wilson Warbirds, the Class-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers.
Capitol Broadcasting Company (CBC), WRAL’s parent company, took over day-to-day operations of Five County Stadium in January.
Five County Stadium will host a Coastal Plain League baseball team each season, as well as Wake Tech Community College’s baseball, softball, and men's and women’s soccer games.
CBC also purchased Rocky Mount Mills in 2007 and the American Tobacco Campus in 2001 to revitalize both into mix-use community facilities, also adjacent to growing cities.
