“Campbell is grateful for Coach Andrzejek and his leadership over the last year with our men's basketball program and wishes him the best going forward,” Campbell University’s release said. “A national search for Campbell's next head coach will begin immediately."

The Camels went 16-18 (8-10 CAA) in Andrzejek’s lone season as the team’s head coach. Meanwhile, Louisville is coming off a 24-11 record (11-7 ACC), making the second round of the 2026 NCAA Tournament.

Andrzejek posted a statement to X on Wednesday afternoon about his decision.

“Over the last six months, it has become clear that Campbell has mad the decision to shift their commitment from basketball,” Andrzejek wrote in part. “Simply put – the institution now has different priorities, and they are not compatible with putting the kind of team on the floor that you deserve.

“As difficult as that is, I respect the decision and understand it as one that the university feels it must make in what are unprecedented times in higher education.”

A year ago, Andrzejek came to Campbell after serving as an assistant at Florida from 2023-2025. The Gators won the national championship in 2025.

“Despite months of intense work and collaboration with AD Hannah Bazemore and our terrific athletics administration, and several creative options that were proposed and thoroughly explored, there are no pathways that the institution will support to fund the program appropriately moving forward.”

Andrzejek said he was “deeply grateful” to Bazemore, former Campbell University President Dr. J. Bradley Creed and deputy athletics director Justin Wilkins for the job opportunity and “for their consistent support over the last 11 months.”

Creed retired in 2025. Dr. William Downs became the new president of the school on July 1, 2025.

Andrzejek added, “I certainly wish things had gone differently, as I know many others do. Campbell will always be a special place for me. From the bottom of my heat – I will always pull for this university, this program and the wonderful people of the Creek.”
