NC State safety Jakeen Harris transferring to UNC

NC State safety Jakeen Harris is transferring to his old team's fiercest rival after five seasons in Raleigh.

Harris is going to UNC for what will likely be his final year playing in college. Harris joined the Wolfpack in 2019 and started 21 games for them.

Harris was expected to be a contributor in 2023, but was injured in the season opener at UConn. Harris used a red-shirt to extend his eligibility.

His best season came in 2020, when he logged 76 tackles, third-best on the team that year. Harris, who grew up in Savannah, Georgia, has four career interceptions and 11 pass breakups with State.

Harris isn't the first inter-Triangle transfer. Running back Jordan Waters was Duke's leader in carries, rushing yards and touchdowns in 2023, but is now with NC State after entering the transfer portal.
