Quarterback Grayson McCall, a three-time Sun Belt Player of the Year while at Coastal Carolina, announced he would transfer to NC State for the 2024 season on social media Wednesday.

McCall, who completed 70 percent of his passes for a total 10,005 yards with the Chanticleers, is a North Carolina native. He missed the final five games of the 2023 season with a head injury after starting the first seven games.

Coastal was 38-11 while he was the starter (7-5 in 2023) and is headed to the Hawaii Bowl. McCall had 88 touchdowns and 14 interceptions with Coastal. Former NC State offensive coordinator Tim Beck was head coach at Coastal Carolina in 2023.

NC State had a need at quarterback. Starter Brennan Armstrong, a graduate transfer from Virginia, is out of eligibility. MJ Morris, who started four games this season, is in the transfer portal.

McCall entered the transfer portal after the 2022 season, but returned to Coastal.

NC State (9-3) plays Kansas State in the Pop-Tarts Bowl in Orlando on Dec. 28.
