The ceremony took place just before the Wolfpack’s game against the Louisville Cardinals.

Cowher described the moment as “very moving.”
“When Boo and Dave told me they were going to do this tonight, I was doing a coaching clinic in out here in the spring,” Cowher said. “Tonight is very special and I feel very humbled.”
Cowher, who went to two Super Bowls as a head coach with the Steelers, winning one in 2005, went to NC State from 1975 to 1978. Cowher still holds the single-season record for tackles with the Wolfpack.
Prior to Friday night, Cowher said the last time he was at Carter-Finley Stadium was to scout another NC State legend, Phillip Rivers.
