— Spirit Airlines is launching flights out of Raleigh-Durham International Airport on Thursday.

The low-fare airline, known for its yellow interior, is bringing seven nonstop destinations to RDU: Chicago, Detroit, Boston, Baltimore, New Orleans, Fort Lauderdale and Orlando.

Antoine Banks booked his first ever flight to go to Las Vegas via Spirit on Thursday. He bought the flight after seeing the low prices.

“Well, last minute flight," he said. "First time in Vegas, first time on a plane, why not?” he said.

Spirit’s launch isn’t the only sign of growth at RDU. Earlier this year, Frontier Airlines added several new nonstop flights.

Another airline, called Via Air, planned to launch at RDU this spring, but the launch was postponed. The new date has not been announced.
