Special Olympians light torch for Summer Games
Athletes from 70 counties across the state will compete in six events at venues across the Triangle through Sunday.
Posted — UpdatedAthletes from across the state are in Raleigh this weekend for the 2013 Special Olympics North Carolina Summer Games.
The competition kicked off Friday evening with the opening ceremony and lighting of the cauldron.
"It's something that you accept and embrace, and you realize it's something special because not everyone has the opportunity to do this, said volunteer Kayla Watson.
