Southern Pines police are investigating after finding a 20-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the chest in the 300 block of South Stephens Street Friday night.

<b>SOUTHERN PINES, N.C.</b> — Southern Pines police are investigating after a 20-year-old man died of a gunshot wound to the chest.

Officers responding to a shooting found Daniek Davon Burns, of Southern Pines, in the 300 block of South Stephens Street around 11:30 p.m. Friday.

Burns was transported to First Health Moore Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
