Southbound U.S. 1 reopened in Cary
A three-car wreck on U.S. Highway 1 caused a traffic jam through Cary Friday afternoon.
Posted — UpdatedCARY, N.C. — A three-car wreck on U.S. Highway 1 caused a traffic jam through Cary Friday afternoon.
All southbound lanes were closed near Walnut Street just after 1:30 p.m. Police cleared the wreck and reopened the highway before 2:30 p.m., but delays could take longer to unwind.
While the highway was closed, southbound traffic was diverted across the grass median and into the northbound lanes.
Weekend traffic warnings
Drivers can expect to see some delays through the weekend on Interstate 40 westbound from I-540
to the Durham Freeway (N.C. Highway 47).
