Workers line up outside the North Carolina Department of Revenue building in downtown Raleigh on Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010. The building was evacuated after a suspicious-looking package was found.

Some people who owe taxes and pay monthly through an automatic bank draft may have been charged twice, according to the N.C. Department of Revenue.

The NCDOR became aware Thursday of a technical processing issue that caused some taxpayers' payments to be drafted twice from their bank accounts.

In a statement, the NCDOR confirmed the problem was immediately isolated and corrected and apologized "for for any inconvenience this issue may have caused."

People affected or those with questions can contact the NCDOR at 1-877-252-3052.
