Some Army

WRAL Photojournalist Greg Hutchinson catches up with the Hopscotch band Some Army.

I decided to get a little ambitious just before Hopscotch this year. So, I put out feelers to local bands to see who could work with me just before the big, three-day music fest.
The good folks at Some Army were the first to step up to the plate.
I have had the pleasure of working with two members of Some Army before, when I did a feature on Aminal. As it turns out, being in more than one band is a common theme for this group, and is the case across the board with musicians in the Triangle.
The shoot went well. They had a nice setup up at the Local 506 in Chapel Hill. The lighting was hard to beat and they performed on a stage, from my perspective, this was the greatest shoot of all time.

Lead by Russ Baggett, the songs they create are easy to digest and a good flavor for almost any musical palette.

I had a great time shooting with Some Army. Sometimes it’s hard to shoot a six member band, just because it can take forever to get everything I need. But they were patient, and they were even more patient when I found out my car had gotten towed during their shoot. Let’s just say our Hopscotch coverage didn’t come without sacrifice this year.

Make sure you check out the video and follow the links! Some Army will be playing a Hopscotch day party Thursday at 3 p.m. at Slim’s and their official Hopscotch slot is at 9 p.m. at Deep South.
If that’s not enough Some Army for you (and really, how could it be?), they are having a release show at the Local 506, Sept. 22 with Tow3rs and Gray Young
