Soldiers to be tried in paratrooper's death

Six more Fort Bragg soldiers will be tried in the death of a paratrooper whose body was found on post last summer.

FORT BRAGG, N.C. — Six more Fort Bragg soldiers will face courts-martial in the death of a paratrooper whose body was found on post last summer.

Sgt. Christopher Mignocchi, 22, of Hollywood, Fla.; Sgt. Kyle G. Saltz, 25, of Richland, Wash.; Pfc. Andrey Udalov, 21, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; Spc. Charles B. DeLong of Dade City, Fla.; Spc. Joseph Misuraca of Harper Woods, Mich.; and Sgt. Ryan Sullivan, 23, of Mount Laurel, N.J., have been charged with involuntary manslaughter and conspiracy to commit assault consummated by battery.

Sullivan also was charged with communicating a threat, while Mignocchi and Udalov have been charged with obstructing justice.

Pfc. Luke Brown, 27, of Fredericksburg, Va., was found dead in a car in a parking lot off Bastogne Drive on post on July 20.

A witness testified in a March hearing that several soldiers punched, choked and restrained Brown in an effort to calm him after he got into a fight at a bar.

Sgt. Justin A. Boyle of Rocky Point, N.Y., was previously charged with involuntary manslaughter, conspiracy to commit assault consummated by battery and communicating a threat in the case.
