FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A Fort Bragg soldier died Monday of injuries suffered in a Sunday evening wreck, police said.

Randall Brian Watson, 23, was driving on Yadkin Road at about 6:15 p.m. Sunday when he lost control of his 1999 Volkswagen near the intersection of York Road, police said. The car slammed into a 2007 Mazda before running off the road and hitting a sign post, police said.

Police said speed was a factor in the wreck, which remains under investigation.

Three passengers in the Volkswagen also were taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for treatment. Police haven't identified them, and there was no word Monday on their conditions.

The driver of the Mazda, Carmen Elizabeth Oliver, 24, of Fayetteville, was treated at the hospital and released.
