A 22-year-old Army soldier from Cary died Friday in a non-combat incident in Afghanistan, the Department of Defense announced Saturday.

CARY, N.C. — A 22-year-old Army soldier from Cary died Friday in a non-combat incident in Afghanistan, the Department of Defense announced Saturday. 

Spc. Andrew H. Sipple, died in Kandahar City, officials said. More details about his death were not released, but officials said there is an ongoing investigation.

Sipple entered active duty service in April 2010 and was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.
