Soldier found unresponsive in Fayetteville-area home dies

An 82nd Airborne Division Soldier died Friday morning after he was found unresponsive at his local residence, officials said Monday.

FORT BRAGG, N.C. — An 82nd Airborne Division Soldier died Friday morning after he was found unresponsive at his local residence, officials said Monday.

Staff Sgt. Matthew N. Miller, 34, of Kansas City, Mo., served as a UH-60 Blackhawk  helicopter crew chief and administrative non-commissioned officer with Company C, 3rd Aviation Regiment, 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade.

The cause of death remains under investigation.

Miller joined the Army in November 2001 and has served combat tours in both Iraq and Afghanistan. During his most recent deployment, he logged more than 150 hours flying in southern Afghanistan from March 2009 to April 2010, officials said.

He is survived by his mother, Stephanie Russell, of Independence, Mo.; his father, Lee Miller, of New Mexico, and his sister, Rachel Lee Crozier, of Grain Valley, Mo.
