Snow make-up days announced for Triangle schools

— After students across the state missed school on Thursday, Friday and even Monday due to winter storms, the following make-up days were announced.

Wake County Public Schools

Weather makeup days for Thursday, Jan. 4:

  • Traditional-Calendar Schools: Monday, Jan. 22
  • Modified-Calendar Schools: Monday, Feb. 19
  • Wake Young Men’s and Women’s Leadership Academies: Monday, Feb. 19
  • Wake STEM Early College: Monday, Feb. 19
  • Vernon Malone Career and College Academy, Wake Early College of Health Sciences, North Wake College and Career Academy: Friday, March 9
  • Year-Round, Track 1: Saturday, Jan. 20
  • Year-Round, Track 2: Saturday, Jan. 20
  • Year-Round, Track 3: Saturday, Jan. 20
  • Year-Round, Track 4, Barwell Road Elementary and Walnut Creek Elementary: Not in session, so no make-up day is required

Weather make-up days for Friday, Jan. 5:

  • Traditional-Calendar Schools: Monday, February 19
  • Modified-Calendar Schools: Monday, March 12
  • Leadership Academies: Monday, April 2
  • Wake STEM Early College: Tuesday, April 3
  • Vernon Malone, Wake Early College of Health Sciences, North Wake College and Career Academy: Thursday, March 29
  • Year-Round, Track 1: Saturday, April 7
  • Year-Round, Track 2: Saturday, April 7
  • Year-Round, Track 3: Saturday, April 7
  • Year-Round, Track 4, Barwell Road Elementary, and Walnut Creek Elementary: Not in session, so no make-up day is required

Durham Public Schools

Traditional calendar schools will make up Jan. 4 on Tuesday, January 16. CMA, MCHS, HSNT and ECHS will make up Jan. 4 on February 9.

Traditional calendar schools will make up Jan. 5 on February 19. CMA, MCHS, HSNT will make up Jan. 5 on March 16. ECHS will make up Jan. 5 on March 9.

Wayne County Public Schools

Traditional Calendar: February 19 will become the district’s first student Make-Up Day (originally a Teacher Workday). Three early release days, January 31, February 28, and March 21, will become full days in order to recover lost instructional time. March 30 will become the district’s second student Make-Up Day (originally a Holiday). Northeast Elementary and Grantham Middle will get credit for the January 2 closure, as students reported to school and were sent home. The closure for Grantham Elementary will be waived, as the closure was called before students reported to school.

Non-Traditional Calendar (GHS, WEMCHS, & WSE): February 19 will become the district’s first student Make-Up Day (originally a Teacher Workday). The next two Make-Up Days will become March 9 (originally a Teacher Workday) and March 30 (originally a Holiday). The January 3 closure will be waived for Wayne Early/Middle College High and Wayne School of Engineering.

Cumberland and Harnett county schools

Cumberland and Harnett county schools have been adding instructional time to each school day, banking the time so that those students will not need to make up the time missed Jan. 4 and 5.
