MORRISVILLE, N.C. — A small plane made an emergency landing Monday at Raleigh-Durham International Airport when its nose gear collapsed after the plane touched down.

The plane landed on the smaller runway at RDU around 10:15 a.m. The pilot was the only person on board and was not hurt, RDU spokeswoman Mindy Hamlin said.

No further details were immediately available.

The incident comes a day after a Northwest Airlines plane made an emergency landing shortly after take-off. No one aboard the flight was injured.

Northwest officials said they believe a bird strike might have caused the plane's engine to malfunction. The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.
