ROLLING FORK, Miss. (AP) — Rescuers raced Saturday to search for survivors and help hundreds of people left homeless after a powerful tornado cut a devastating path through Mississippi, killing at least 25 people, injuring dozens, and flattening entire blocks as it carved a path of destruction for more than an hour. One person was killed in Alabama.

North Carolina's Roy Jernigan crossed off an item on his bucket list. He went skydiving Tuesday to celebrate his 98th birthday!

Thanks man. And so I my advice to anyone, if God blesses you and gives you the number of years that he's given me, burn out your life, living for others. You'll never regret it. It's kind of amazing. And did we ever think we'd see this day? Probably not. But I can easily see him living to 100 at this point.

people ask me all the time what do I contribute my longevity too. And I tell him the good Lord and black coffee. And in that order I drink a lot of black black coffee. When I was 80 years old I went to a doctor for physical and he said uh in the conversation getting information, he said do you drink coffee? I said yes sir. He says how much do you drink? I said I don't know about eight or 10 cups of coffee a day. He like to fell out of his chair. He said mr journey you need to cut down. I said doctor how old are you? He says 44. I said when you get to be 80 tell me about it. It was I guess it started as a joke from him. Like well if I'm if I'm around at 98 then I'll jump. And so then we started like holding him to it and saying well grandpa that'll be the time to do it, won't it? And here we are. They look at you and say are you serious? I'll say yes. Are you crazy? I said yes seems to be doing pretty good. My health is good. I don't have a doctor. I want no medication, haven't had a physical in 15 years. My mind's good. I can remember as I say, I can remember when I was two years old. I can remember right on up I can quote the Gettysburg address
