Sky 5: 2 dead, homes destroyed in tornado from Tropical Storm Isaias
Two people are dead and homes destroyed in a neighborhood north of Windsor in Bertie County after a tornado spawned inside Tropical Storm Isaias.
Well, the scene here is is awful as ah, we show you these live pictures only on WRL News. We're southeast of Windsor just off of morning road. We got early indications this morning from reports on social media that this was a bad scene. And indeed it is. This mobile home park pretty much flattened. I've can count maybe six or seven holes. Hard to tell because there's nothing left of so many of them. You can see where that have been blown off the foundations, the pieces of the house, the contents of the homes blown across the road into a field. You could see where there are vehicles that are bunched up against each other from where the tornado struck. Ah, Highway patrol helicopter is on the scene as well. You might see them in the shot. Here is they fly low over the area. As we were flying out here, I noticed that a lot of the intersections in these rural roads out here just south of Wednesday and Birdie County that the police had blocked them. There were lines of cars at some of those intersections trying to get through, but they're turning traffic away and you see here where we have emergency crews trying Teoh dig out of through the rubble here, trying to look for what they can and also is, as I look elsewhere around the scene here, there are a lot of pieces of heavy equipment. They're trying to clear trees. This is about a mile and 1/2 to 2 mile long path by my estimate of damage, which includes these destroyed homes, trees that air snapped into and blown across. It's a horrible seeing out here, uh, again, a lot of response from emergency crews on this side of Windsor on Morning Road. There's some other damage that we're gonna be checking on just a little while. But take a look right there in the center of your screen. That is the foundation of a mobile home and then blown right off for that foundation. The pieces of that home pieces of a families life flown across the front yard and across the road into into that field, back to you
