Skies stay clear for Halloween, but severe weather is possible before the weekend
The skies will be clear for trick-or-treaters on Wednesday, but strong storms are possible by the end of the week.

Wednesday and Thursday will be warmer than usual before a line of storms that are expected to bring severe weather to the Southern Plains move into North Carolina.
The rain that moves in would stick around through Friday and, although WRAL meteorologist Mike Maze said it’s too early to know what will happen, there will be a chance for severe weather.
“Right now it looks like, for us, the best chance to see severe weather would be Friday night,” Maze said.
The storms, which will bring thunder and lightning along with the potential for strong winds, could impact Friday night high school football games for the second week in a row.
Following Friday’s rain, the weekend should be dry with cooler temperatures, but WRAL Chief Meteorologist Greg Fishel said a trough could bring another chance for rain early next week.
“Details on that are sketchy but with the details setting up like that, we certainly have to mention some rain,” Fishel said.
