<b>RALEIGH, N.C.</b> — Authorities are investigating after human remains were found Monday night in Raleigh.

Raleigh police on Monday night were searching for a missing homeless man when they entered a wooded area near Lake Boone Trail and Interstate 440 and located the skeletal remains at about 6:35 p.m.

Authorities could not confirm what prompted the search for the missing man or determine if the skeleton belonged to him.
