Single-vehicle accident leads to utility pole struck, church damaged

Rocky Mount, N.C. — Rocky Mount police said a woman driving a vehicle struck a utility pole and crashed into a church on Thursday.
Rocky Mount Lt. Ryan Helpler said the incident happened at 612 Cokey Road, which is the destination of Apostolic Deliverance Church of Christ, according to Google Maps. Helpler said the woman, 31, who was not identified, left the roadway at Cokey Road and Long Avenue, struck a utility pole and the side walls of the church, causing some structural damage.
The driver was treated at Nash General Hospital for minor injuries. A man who was a passenger in the vehicle was treated at the scene.
There was no word on charges.
