WILSON, N.C. — The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons issued a Silver Alert Monday for a Wilson man who is believed to be suffering from dementia or some other cognitive impairment.

Vincent Artemus Taylor, 36, was last seen at his home, 2210 Somerset Drive in Wilson, around 5 p.m. Saturday.

He was wearing black pants, a black shirt and a black jacket, authorities said. Taylor is black, with a mustache, black hair and brown eyes. He is about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs 160 pounds.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call Wilson police at 252-399-2323.

Developed in 2007, Silver Alert is a system to quickly notify the public about missing endangered adults who suffer from dementia or other cognitive impairments, such as Alzheimer's disease.

It also allows caregivers and nursing homes to report a person missing. In the past, only a family member could report an adult missing.
