RALEIGH, N.C. — A Silver Alert was issued Monday morning for a 30-year-old Raleigh man who has a cognitive impairment.

Eberechukwu John Ugwuoke was last seen by a family member at 3233 Huntleigh Drive around 2 p.m Sunday. He is driving a dark blue 1991 Buick Regal, with state license plate number NSA-1368.

Ugwuoke was described as a black man, 6 feet tall and weighing 200 pounds. He has short black hair and brown eyes.

Ugwuoke was last seen wearing khaki or tan shorts and a red, button-up, short-sleeved shirt.

His direction of travel and destination were unknown.

Developed in 2007, Silver Alert is a system to quickly notify the public about missing endangered adults who suffer from dementia or other cognitive impairments, such as Alzheimer's disease.

It also allows caregivers and nursing homes to report a person missing. In the past, only a family member could report an adult missing.
