APEX, N.C. — The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons has issued a Silver Alert for a missing endangered man.

Matthew Josiah Silliman, who is believed to be suffering from dementia or some other cognitive impairment, was last seen at 1017 Oakgate Court.

The 18-year-old is 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs 145 pounds. He has spiked blond hair and blue eyes.

Anyone with information about Silliman should call the Apex Police Department at 919-362-8661.

Developed in 2007, Silver Alert is a system to quickly notify the public about missing endangered adults who suffer from dementia or other cognitive impairments, such as Alzheimer's disease.

It also allows caregivers and nursing homes to report a person missing. In the past, only a family member could report an adult missing.
