Authorities have canceled a Silver Alert issued for a 72-year-old Moore County man on Friday afternoon.

<b>ABERDEEN, N.C.</b> — Authorities have canceled a Silver Alert issued for a 72-year-old Moore County man on Friday afternoon.

The Moore County Sheriff's Office requested that the alert for Charles James Stephens, of Aberdeen, be canceled around 2:30 a.m. Saturday. Stephens was found alive, officials said.<br />

Developed in 2007, Silver Alert is a system to quickly notify the public about missing endangered adults who suffer from dementia or other cognitive impairments, such as Alzheimer's disease.<br />

It also allows caregivers and nursing homes to report a person missing. In the past, only a family member could report an adult missing.

Mary-Ann Baldwin announced she would not seek reelection in a video posted to her social media pages. She cited personal reasons, including a diagnosis of breast cancer and the stress of caring for her husband after he had open-heart surgery.
