RALEIGH, N.C. — Authorities have canceled a Silver Alert was a missing Wake County man.
State authorities said Wednesday that someone had taken Robert Paul Moore, 72, to the airport. After reading on WRAL.com that a Silver Alert had been issued, the person called the sheriff’s department to say Moore had left town. Deputies located Moore and said he is fine.

Moore had last been seen on Holly Springs Road at Ten Ten Road in Apex and might have been attempting to walk to Raleigh-Durham International Airport for a flight to Oklahoma City as a standby passenger, the Wake County Sheriff's Office said.

Developed in 2007, the Silver Alert system quickly notifies the public about missing endangered adults who suffer from dementia or other cognitive impairments, such as Alzheimer's disease.

It also allows caregivers and nursing homes to report a person missing. In the past, only a family member could report an adult missing.
