RALEIGH, N.C. — We could see some showers in the Triangle on Wednesday morning, but Thanksgiving Day looks sunny and cool.

Sprinkles could develop in Raleigh around 7 or 8 a.m., WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner said, and could strengthen into showers around 9 a.m.

The rain will stick around until 12 p.m. Wednesday but begin clearing out in the afternoon.

A cold front is behind the rain, so while Wednesday’s high will reach 68 degrees, Thursday’s temperatures will peak at 58 degrees.

The system could bring gusts of 40 to 50 mph to New York that would affect the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Parade balloons will need to stay at lower altitudes or be removed if sustained winds surpass 23 mph or if gusts surpass 34 mph.

Such strength isn’t expected in the Triangle, though, as the North Carolina mountains will weaken the system for our end.

Thanksgiving Day will be breezy and bright, with morning temperatures in the mid-40s for any Turkey Trot runners.

Friday will be partly cloudy, with temperatures again reaching the mid-50s.

Another chance for rain moves in Saturday, which has a 30% chance for rain.

Sunday will be warmer and wetter, with temperatures in the mid-60s and a 60% chance of rain.
