RALEIGH, N.C. — A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect through Saturday evening for Cumberland, Hoke, Moore, and Sampson Counties. Damaging wind gusts will be possible with those storms, WRAL meteorologist Kat Campbell said.

Strong storms will move through the Charlotte area around 6:30 p.m. and then weaken as they progress to the east.

"Otherwise, we'll see mostly cloudy skies with lows in the mid 60s Saturday night," Campbell said.

Sunday will again be partly cloudy.

"A few showers and storms are possible, but it won't rain all day," Campbell said.

The amount clouds in the sky will determine how hot it gets Sunday afternoon. Highs could range from 80 to 87 degrees.

The summer heat and humidity return for the work week. Monday's forecast high is for 93 degrees, and temperatures stay in the mid-90s through the week, with some clouds but little chance for rain every day.
