RALEIGH, N.C. — A bullet was fired into a student apartment near N.C. State University early Thursday morning.

Just after midnight, university police responded to a shooting near the Western Manor Apartments on Avent Ferry Road. According to police, a shooting occurred in the parking lot of the Burger King at 2241 Avent Ferry Road, near Centennial Parkway and Mission Valley.

A resident at Western Manor Apartments, which is considered student housing, said a bullet went through their window on the second floor.

No one was injured, but N.C. State sent out an alert to students.

One student said she was shaken up by how close the bullet came to missing her own apartment.

"I was really scared and afraid," said Madison Jennette, who was just sitting in her apartment around 11:45 p.m. on Wednesday when she heard gunshots.

"I heard shots, but I didn't realize it was shots. I thought it was a firework or something," she said. "You'd never think it would happen around here."

Police said no one was hurt, and there was no information about a suspect.
