It's the last Saturday to shop before Christmas. Many were out and about searching for those last-minute gifts.

<b>RALEIGH, N.C.</b> — It's the last Saturday to shop before Christmas. Many were out and about searching for those last-minute gifts.

At Cameron Village, some people said they were feeling the pressure to find the right gift with time running out. However, most people said they enjoy the rush of shopping at the last minute. It was pretty clear as the parking lots were filled to capacity and many people continued to drive in search for the perfect gift.

Everyone has their reasons for waiting until the last minute to shop. Some say this year’s holiday season <span class="nanospell-typo">snuck</span> up on them, having six fewer days between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Others said they intentionally wait until the last minute and can often snag really good deals.

Several local and big box stores were extending their hours as they anticipate the final holiday push.

Dan Jones is one of the many last-minute shoppers who were out on Saturday. He said his family makes it a tradition to shop together. He also said there’s something special about shopping in stores that <span class="nanospell-typo">online</span> shopping can’t offer.

Donate new or gently used coats, or cash, to help the Salvation Army keep kids warm this winter.

<p>A coat. It seems so basic. But thousands of children in our viewing area need warm winter wear for the cold months ahead, especially families devastated by Hurricanes Florence and Michael.</p>

<p>Coats for the Children is WRAL’s major community campaign to support families in need. We ask our viewers to donate gently used, clean coats, hats and gloves to outfit children for winter. We also collect new toys to make the holidays brighter for children at the Salvation Army.</p>

<p>Currently, more than 10,000 children in Wake County need a warm coat and will not have a new toy this holiday season unless we help. In Durham, Orange and Person counties, over 1,200 children need warm winter clothing, as do 1,100 children in Johnston County. And in Cumberland County, over 3,000 children need warm coats and new toys for the holiday season.</p>

"It's walking into the places and seeing things that catch your eye and seeing people and watching everybody else get their stuff," Jones said. "It's kind of fun. Everybody does shopping online but you just miss the human touch."

According to a survey from the National Retail Federation, nearly 148 million were set to take advantage of Super Saturday sales. This included in-person and <span class="nanospell-typo">online</span> sales.
