— Police said that two shoplifting suspects crashed into three vehicles in the parking lot at Cary Towne Center while fleeing from police Friday night.

Police said the two people stole $1,000 worth of sheets from JC Penny's, then ran from the store and jumped into their car.

The driver sped through the mall parking lot and lost control of his car, which crashed into three parked vehicles, police said. The suspects got out of their car and ran into a wooded area.

Officers caught one suspect, while the other remains at large. Their identities haven't been released.

The suspects' car was totaled, and a GMC Denali had significant damage, police said.
