ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C. — About a dozen relatives of shooting victims had to be dispersed after they created a stir at Halifax Regional Medical Center overnight, said Roanoke Rapids Police Chief Jeff Hinton.

Hinton said that the victims of a shooting that occurred outside the city were driven to the hospital. Upset family members gathered in the parking lot and hospital lobby, and police were called out to clear the crowd, he said.

No was injured, and police made no arrests.

Initial reports of a hostage situation turned out to be false, Hinton said.
